Christian fasting is the practice of not eating food or abstaining from some other pleasure (such as television or news media) for the purpose of growing closer to God’s heart. Fasting is often combined with prayer to deepen one’s relationship with God, to seek his guidance, or to love other people more. It serves as an outward expression of an inward commitment to become more like Jesus.
